The Elgin Power Solutions enclosure fabrication area houses shearing, bending and punch press capabilities. These allow us to manufacture your custom design enclosures to virtually any size that can ship via common carrier.
Our automated turret punch enables punching up to 1/4” metal with complex designs and shapes. Pulse welders located throughout the manufacturing area provide the capability to weld mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Elgin Power Solutions employs several certified welders, who have all received extensive training from external consulting firm Ojett, Inc.
The Elgin Power Solutions’ powder-coating facility is one of the largest in the Eastern United States. In operation since 2007, the facility accepts enclosures up to 40’ long, 9’ wide, and 11’ high. We use DuPont paint products to provide virtually unlimited color finishes.
Powder-coated finishes are our Elgin Power Solutions’ standard. They provide a much more durable and longer-lasting finish than wet painting. Should your specifications require wet painting, however, the option is available in our facility.
Elgin Power Solutions offers coil-winding machines manned by experienced employees, as well as insulation- and core steel-cutting machines. After the final assembly process, the transformer or reactor is impregnated with varnish and oven cured. The final step entails baking the product to provide waterproofing and additional thermal stability. We carry out extensive testing of every unit before shipping, to ensure the highest quality and reliability of the final product.
After completion and painting of an enclosure is completed, it moves to the electrical area with its completed transformer or reactor for final assembly in one of 10 fully-equipped bays. Our trained electricians then mount all the components and wire the high-voltage, low-voltage, and control sections of the final product.
Once completed, the final product moves to the test area where all components are tested. Overall functionality tests are performed to ensure proper performance. If control system programming is involved the programs are loaded and tested at this time.
An area of Elgin Power Solutions’ plant is dedicated to the manufacture of MSHA-certified, explosion-proof lighting, pump enclosures, and electrical control enclosures. Camera systems, ground monitors, and low-voltage cable connectors are also manufactured in this area.
